One of the most unforgettable moment happened in the Philippines, a typhoon tragedy which named: Bagyong Ondoy killed many lives and destroy many properties including their shelter, vehicles and more. This typhoon which cross the National capital Region or NCR and other near places has cause a big flood that never been happened for many decades.
Ondoy left a disaster flooding the whole of Manila and other parts of the Philippines, destroying millions of properties, killing a number of people in just a blink!
This is partly man’s fault. If only we threw our trash in the right place. If only trees were planted and not cut down. Our doings are taking its toll on us now.
Many Filipino, rich or poor, celebrities or common once suffer to this tragedy however, Filipino’s, no matter what circumstances are, they still help with each other even if sacrificing their own lives. Other countries such as USA give and send help to Typhoon Victim. Currently, many people volunteer by sending relief goods, giving victims a shelter to rest.
The flood is from knees up to 10 feet high. Even the second floor of victims’ house has been entered by the flood due to the typhoon tragedy.
These are the sample images during the typhoon tragedy happened last September 26, 2009

September 26 is a remarkable one because of the typhoon, colleges had suspended the class around 11am though some of the student including me are currently on school. It never even occurred to me that it's gonna be a heavy one. And I even joked my clinical instructor that my house might get affected by flood, that is before the classes is suspended because I'm so lazy to listen to her lecture. Some of our classmates are absent because their house is in flood already.
So when the announcement came that the classes will be suspended we are immediately dismissed. When I stepped out of the classroom, my phone is ringing and it is my dad who is calling, well i didn't picked it and hanged up on him. Hehehe because i was too lazy to talk to him.
Me and two of my classmates are waiting for the jeepney to take us to another station, and again my dad is calling. I got irritated and answer him right away, the ear piece is not yet in my ear but his voice can be heared in another planet because he's so angry and so loud that my ear drums will explode. And he's ranting and ranting about this typhoon and asking me where the hell am I, why am I not picking his phone calls, etc. And I said "buhay pa ko, pauwi na." And then he said "umuwi ka na agad, pumasok na yun baha sa bahay." I was so shocked to hear that, i didn't expect this to happen because it was almost 10 years ago when the flood entered our house and to even think that we are located in high area.
Well, there is no jeepney passing by, and people are crowding, already waiting for the jeep. If there's a jeepney, it is either full or we are just too slow to get in it and we got pushed sometimes. So we decided to walk from school to Olivarez and it is a 5 to 10 minutes walk I think, so why did we wait for how many minutes to ride in a jeep, it is because it was raining! hahaha.
While the three of us are walking and we passed the bridge, we saw that within who knows how many hours will pass before the water in the river will soon reach the bridge. The houses beneath it and at the shore are already flooded, the people in the bridge can't help but watch how their houses are being eaten by the river. I can't helped it but I pitied them. As we passed them and reached our destination (Olivarez), I noticed and was shocked that there is no even one single vehicle passing by, how am I supposed to go home?! I was so nervous at the moment because I heard two people chattering that there is flood along my way home and jeepneys can't cross it because the water is above hip level. I was worried because I am afraid of floods and body of waters. To tell the truth I am a hydrophobic, scared of water.
After 20 minutes of waiting, there's a jeepney coming and I immediately ride in. While I'm on the way home there's flood everywhere and it causes traffic. When I saw our street it was so shocking and I felt devastated when I reached our house because the flood is already inside. Anyway the flood inside our house is not knee length or above hips, it is only 3 to 5 inches above the floor. Thank God it causes no damage to our house especially to my family.
At 5 in the afternoon, we got news from my sister because she's in Manila, that the flood already reached their second floor and can't get any help because their neighbors too are already in their rooftop. Now I can't rest easy because of that news. How can I help them, and I never even dreamt of these happening. At 7pm my sister called and she said that the "barangay tanods" helped them, and now they are in Makati with our uncle's and aunties.
The typhoon Ondoy is very traumatic for most of our countrymen, it destroyed many lives, shelter, properties, bussinesses. But inspite of all of this, we continue to live on, and we don’t loose faith in God Almighty. We’ll just continue to pray to Him.
People are helping one another to build again another day of our lives. This is just the proof that God is testing us, to still believe in Him, that He and only Him can help us through this all.
May God be with us always.
